Mrs. Bridget DaPra -

3K Teacher

My Name is Mrs. DaPra.

My Birthday is November 12.

My family includes my husband Lucas, my parents, older sister and younger brother. I am also lucky to have great in-laws, a niece, and a nephew who attends WIS!

I received a BA in Elementary Education from St. Norbert College, graduating with Honors.

I previously taught First Grade for three years at a newly opened school in Phoenix, Arizona. I worked with English language learners, teaching both academics and language standards.

My Teaching Philosophy:

I believe in creating a classroom that encourages cooperation, teamwork, and togetherness, while allowing individuals to pursuit their talents and interests. I believe children learn through experimentation, play, and connecting to their own life experience. In our class we have lessons in language, math, science, and social studies, plus ample time for students to play and experiment with language, toys, and art materials. Because children learn socially, we have many activities based in rhythm, movement, and song that allow them to interact with friends while practicing important skills. Children make emotional and social connections with the curriculum and are excited for new learning opportunities. I provide time for students to work in a whole group, small groups, and individually so they can develop positive habits while in various situations and have time to work at their own level. I encourage students to take pride in their work and become responsible and accountable. Students care for each other and help each other, creating a caring and compassionate learning place!

My favorite thing about WIS:

"I love the care that goes into the international aspect of WIS. I find it so encouraging that students from age 3 are taught a foreign language. The methods used to teach foreign language are so progressive and practical. Using song, stories, culture, tradition, and daily exposure allow children to experiment with, and learn, the language in such a natural fashion.

Students of all ages at WIS are encouraged to learn about and understand other cultures through various holiday celebrations, cultural assemblies and displays, and monthly foreign country studies."
