Foreign Languages
Foreign language is taught every day at WIS. We are currently offering Spanish with Jairo Rios & Lourain Eggart and Mandarin Chinese with Qiuhong Zhang. All instructors are native speakers.
Given the different attention spans and educational needs of each age group, foreign language is given various amounts of time. Here is the time assignment for each grade:
Toddler, 3K, 4K (3 and 4 year olds): 30 minutes per day
Kindergarten and 1st grade: 35 minutes per day
2nd through 5th grade: 40 minutes per day
Middle School Grades: 45 minutes per day
To receive the full benefit of the foreign language instruction, your child should continue studying one language through the elementary years. Students who attain a high level of mastery in a second language develop a facility to learn a third.

WIS Students Finish in First Place in all Events!
WIS Spanish Students (grades 3-8) show their blue ribbons and certificates of participation following the Concurso Oral held in Milwaukee in March 2011. Over 400 students from all over Wisconsin competed in this annual event. Our middle school students
(grades 6-8) competed against high school students across the state. The judges comments to Senora Eggart (second row, far right) include - "your students showed confidence in speaking", "had superb accents" and "demonstrated outstanding interpretation of the materials". WIS students from 3K-8th grade enjoy Spanish or Mandarin language classes daily.
