Foreign language is taught every day at WIS. We are currently offering Spanish with Jairo Rios & Lourain Eggart and Mandarin Chinese with Qiuhong Zhang. All instructors are native speakers.
Given the different attention spans and educational needs of each age group, foreign language is given various amounts of time. Here is the time assignment for each grade:
Toddler, 3K, 4K (3 and 4 year olds): 30 minutes per day
Kindergarten and 1st grade: 35 minutes per day
2nd through 5th grade: 40 minutes per day
Middle School Grades: 45 minutes per day
To receive the full benefit of the foreign language instruction, your child should continue studying one language through the elementary years. Students who attain a high level of mastery in a second language develop a facility to learn a third.

Chinese New Year 2013

To strengthen our internationalism, we inaugurated our cultural studies in January 2009 with a study of China. Activities in culture, literature, geography, food preparation, history and language are incorporated into the school day as part of this program.
The highlight of the China study is the Dragon Parade to celebrate the Chinese New Year. We continue to celebrate this holiday annually.
