Wisconsin International School believes a dress code for Kindergarten through 8th grade students is important because it:
- Builds a community spirit among our students about their being a WIS student.
- Allows students to focus on learning, bypassing distractions that come from varied clothing styles.
- Alleviates competition for more expensive clothing and/or fad clothing.
- Helps the student get ready for school in the morning with as little conflict over clothing as possible.
Preschool Students and Toddlers
There will be no formal dress code requirements for preschool and toddler students although our young students are welcome to do so. We ask that parents dress preschool and toddler children in clothing and shoes that are easy to put on and take off by themselves. Items with buttons, hooks, buckles or laces are often difficult for children of this age to manipulate.
Young children should also have a change of clothing at school in the event of an accident.
