Help Make a Difference in Our Community!
Did you know all students receive a tuition subsidy at WIS? Currently, your tuition dollars cover approximately 70% of the total cost to give your child a WIS education. The other 30% of our operating budget comes from vital donations to our school, such as the Annual Giving Campaign, fundraising events and grants. As we grow the school’s enrollment, that percentage will move closer to 100% coverage by tuition dollars.
Each year at WIS, and at independent schools across the country, an Annual Giving Campaign is conducted. This is a critical part of an independent school’s fundraising as no public, church or corporate funding is received, unlike many charter and private schools. The donations we raise through this Annual Campaign closes the gap between funds received (such as tuition and grants) and the cost to educate your child. It is important that all families make a meaningful gift to support the school. Why? Outside
donors expect the donee organization to step up and support their cause and we send a message to these prospective donors that we believe in the mission and vision of WIS.
As we look at completing our third year of this new school, we continue to meet the challenges that face us and achieve impressive results. Thank you WIS families for your commitment and support, thank you teachers and staff for your enthusiastic and strong dedication, and thank you students for working so hard to achieve what you do. It is why we are all here.
We are pleased 2010-2011 will be remembered for these milestones:
- Our 8th graders excelled on the ACT EXPLORE tests – typically a test for 9th grade students. Their average score was 88% on national norms! WIS students are among the best in the nation! Our 6th and 7th graders also took the test positioning them for success in the next couple of years.
- Our Spanish foreign language program is exceptional based on our performance at the recent competition in Milwaukee – Concurso Oral. Our students competed with 400 Wisconsin students and finished first in each event entered. Judges were impressed with our students’ confidence, superb accents and their outstanding interpretation of the materials.
- Three WIS students stood on the winner’s platform at the Einstein Science Fair with first and second place finishes. This is the second consecutive year in which WIS students have received awards for their science fair projects.
- WIS began two more interscholastic sports as part of other area middle school teams: Spring Track and Tennis.
- We continue to enjoy the international-mindedness learned in the classroom, on the playground and at WIS events as we interact with the students and their families all here because they value education.
So what does this all mean? We are still about $50,000 from reaching our 2010-2011 Annual Giving Campaign goal of $120,000. The vast majority of the $70,000 raised has come from members of the board, grandparents and twenty-seven percent of WIS families. With so many yet to make their commitments, we are confident that we can meet our overall objective in the next few weeks. But, we cannot achieve success without 100% of WIS family support.
If we meet our Annual Giving Campaign goal, we can:
- Continue to pursue IB accreditation
- Continue upgrades to the school.
- Purchase new technology
We thank those that have already contributed or made a commitment. For your convenience, a pledge card and envelope are in the lobby of the school. Please print your name and address on the back. We hope you make your commitment, gift or pledge to our school today.
