WIS Cyber ED
WIS Cyber ED is the cyber education and training arm of WIS ED. We provide a number of services geared towards preparing the next generation of Cyber security professionals. Our main focuses are on our state approved Cyber Apprenticeship programs, Cyber Security training, and connecting qualified candidates to employers.
MD State Apprenticeship(s)
WIS Cyber ED runs a MD State approved Cyber apprenticeship program. Through this program we offer the opportunity to become trained as a Cyber Security Operations Center (SOC) analyst and gain the related technical skills through online training. This program has rigid requirements and we are looking for the most dedicated candidates. Most recently, we have partnered with MD Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), University of Maryland - Baltimore County, and MxD to launch a 'Manufacturing Cybersecurity Systems Operator' apprenticeship program where students will have the opportunity to learn cybersecurity concepts spanning information technology, cybersecurity and operational technology cybersecurity. This builds on the success of the cymot platform that offers curricula in cybersecurity and manufacturing (https://cymot.org). Visit our Apprenticeship Page to learn more!
Cyber Security Training
The DoD Directive 8570 was issued in 2005 to identify, tag, track and manage the information assurance, or cybersecurity, workforce. It also established a manual that includes an enterprise-wide baseline IT certification requirement to validate the knowledge, skills and abilities of people working in cybersecurity roles. It was replaced by DoD Directive 8140 in 2015. To enable our students to have the best opportunity for a career in the cyber security field, we have selected the most critical training offerings. These certification trainings serve as the base requirements for our Apprenticeship program as well. Visit our Online Store to Sign Up and Get Started!
